Spring Sports at Boardman park and Rec!
BOARDMAN, OR - Boardman Park & Recreation District is proud to celebrate another successful spring sports season filled with fun!
Boardman Recreation T-Ball and Coach Pitch welcomed 77 young athletes ages 3–8, across nine different teams. It’s amazing to see the progress these young athletes make and watch in real time as the fundamentals of the game start to click! We wrapped up the season with an end-of-season closing ceremony at the newly refinished softball field at Boardman Marina Park. Boardman Fire Rescue brought their awesome fire trucks, which is always a big hit!
Our Boardman Youth NFL Flag Football League saw incredible participation this season with 88 athletes ages 4–14, competing across seven teams. Players developed their skills, encouraged one another, and showed tremendous growth throughout the season. For our older teams, we participated with Umatilla Park and Recreation’s NFL Flag Football program which gave our athletes more variety and competition. Thank you Umatilla!
Boardman Youth Track program also had an outstanding turnout with 124 participants, ages 4–12. BPRD would like to extend a special thank you to Charisa Hammond, her family, RHS track athletes, and any other volunteers who helped run the 2026 track season in such a seamless and organized way. You make this program possible!
For every other coach, assistant coach, volunteer, and parent who stepped up to be a part of spring sports, thank you. We appreciate your time and dedication as we all work together to bring as many opportunities to our community as possible. We offer a 3-month Coach’s Club membership to the Boardman Pool & Recreation Center to all of our volunteer coaches, and a year round membership for coaches that volunteer their time with two or more seasons.
As BPRD continues to grow and improve youth sports opportunities, we are excited to begin utilizing parent committees earlier in the planning process and throughout the offseason. By working together with families and community members, we hope to keep BPRD programs aligned with the needs of our young athletes while continuing to create positive, successful learning environments for all participants.
We encourage anyone interested in helping shape future sports seasons to get involved. Whether you would like to volunteer, coach, referee, join a parent committee, or assist with planning, we would love to hear from you.
